Emeline Bazemore Manson

Williamston, N.C. Emeline Bazemore Manson was born to William Johnson Bazemore and Janie Bazemore of Snakebite Community of Bertie County on November 4, 1918. She graduated from W. S. Creecy School in Rich Square and Elizabeth City State College in Elizabeth City, NC. She did further studies at Hampton Institute in Hampton, VA and New York University in New York, NY. She joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until moving her membership to Back Swamp Church of Christ to be with her husband. Emeline was married to William H. Manson, Jr. on April 12, 1952 and they reared two daughters, Jacqueline and Keisha Manson. Emeline and William both taught school for over 30 years. She was a licensed Funeral Director and she and her husband owned and operated Manson Mortuary until 2012 when they gave the business to Keisha. She was a member of the Eastern District Funeral Directors and Morticians Association of North Carolina, Inc., the North Carolina Funeral Directors and Morticians Association of North Carollina, Inc. and the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association and the State and National Ladies Auxiliary of Funeral Directors and Morticians Association. She was also a member of the Home Mission Missionary group at Back Swamp Church of Christ (DOC). Emeline was preceded in death by her daughter Jacqueline, three brothers; Pete, George, and Oscar Bazemore, and one sister; Thelma Smallwood. She is survived by her husband, William H. Manson, Jr. of the home, daughter, Keisha Manson of Williamston, NC, a sister, Nelphia Bazemore of Windsor, NC, and a brother, Henry J. Freeman of Windsor, NC; two grandchildren, Isaac Veale and Sarina Veale and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 12 noon at Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a viewing will be held 1 hour prior at the church. Visitation will be held at Manson Mortuary on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 3-6 pm. Entombment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Williamston, NC.
