James Earl Swimpson

Mr. James Earl Swimpson, age 84, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 in

Rockville, MD. James was a retired Director of Financial Aid at Elizabeth City State University. He was a devoted member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

His survivors include: one son, Trevor O. Swimpson of Elizabeth City, NC; one daughter, Inger Swimpson of Silver Spring, MD; one sister, Janice Lanier of Williamston, NC. He also leaves to cherish his fond memories four grandchildren: Kyra Banks, Jaihyra Banks, Coleman Moore and Blake Moore. Three great grandchildren: Jai Sean Whitehurst, Kash Whitehurst and Marley Whitehurst will also cherish his memories.

His public viewings will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Manson Mortuary, Williamston, NC and on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at Mt. Lebanon AME Zion Church, Elizabeth City, NC. There will be an Omega Service held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Mickey Burnim Fine Arts Building on the campus of Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth City, NC.

His memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Mickey Burnim Fine Arts Building on the campus of Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth City, NC.
