Williamston, NC Bishop Melvin Thomas Scott, Sr., 65, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013 in Vidant Health Center. Bishop Melvin T. Scott, Sr. was born in Martin County. He was the founder and pastor of Holy Trinity Church of Christ (DOC)in Washington, NC. Survivors include his wife, Eldress Clete A. Scott of Williamston, NC; two sons, Melvin T. Scott, Jr. of Williamston, NC and Daris J. Scott of Greenville, NC; two daughters, Demetrice S. Wood of Covington, Ga and Nanetta L. Scott of Atlanta, Ga; three sisters, Annie Ross of Williamston, Julia Scott of Brooklyn, NY and Essie Pigernan of Williamston, NC; and three grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 1-5 pm on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Manson Mortuary, Williamston, NC and on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 1-2 pm at Washington and Norfolk District Assembly Church of Christ (DOC) in Jamesville, NC. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Washington and Norfolk District Assembly Church of Christ (DOC) in Jamesville, NC with Eldress Clete A. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Williamston, NC.
