Rocky Mount, NC
Ruth Dumas Rodgers, the daughter of the late Robert Dumas and Shirley Winston, was born April 19, 1952 in Morristown, New Jersey. She grew up and lived the greater part of her life in New Jersey. She was educated in East Orange, NJ public schools. Prior to leaving New Jersey, Ruth was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, East Orange, NJ, later joining the Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church family in Williamston, NC. Upon retirement from APSO Insurance Company, she and her husband relocated to Rocky Mount, NC where she remained until her untimely death.
Ruth was very charismatic with a sweet, sweet spirit. Her quiet and pleasant demeanor was a dynamic part of her character. She possessed a special heart of caring for others. With grace and humiliation, she accepted the challenge of caring for her ailing mother, demonstrating constant love for her. Ruth loved her husband, "Rodger" as she affectionately called him. There was not anything she wouldn't do to assure his happiness. The same love transcended to her family, her in laws, and her church family alike. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her.
