Suffolk, Va. Victoria Williams Kendale, affectionately known as Vickie to her dear friends and Peggy to her family, departed this world on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Norfolk Sentera Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. Victoria Kathryn Williams was the youngest of six, born to Minnie and Arthur Williams on June 17, 1941 in Martin County, North Carolina. She graduated from Elizabeth City State Teachers College, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She taught in Southampton County Schools and Suffolk Public Schools for a combined total of 27 years and retired as a Middle School teacher. Her special gift was teaching. She worked passionately as a Private Mathematics and Reading Tutor and substituted in Suffolk Public Schools for over 19 years. She devoted her time to St. Marks Church where she was in charge of the Episcopal Young Churchmen (EYC) and The United Thanks Offering (UTO). She was a member of the ECW, Outreach and Stewardship committee. She was also Treasurer and member of the Choir. Victoria loved to sing and shared her beautiful, melodic voice every Sunday as long as GOD allowed. She was a life member of Zeta Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (AKA), incorporated over twenty years ago. She served tirelessly and was especially proud of the Reading Program. Her hobbies included golf, reading (her favorite author Danielle Steel), crossword puzzles, playing the piano, and singing.
